Aletheia began as a performance group originally founded in 2000 by 3 California State University, Northridge students: a choir director, a musician, and a choreographer. After a number of years of performing at many venues, the 3 artists each obtained opportunities to pursue their artistic fields. However, the choreographer continued to maintain the group and in 2005 was inspired to name it “Aletheia” (which means “truth” and “sincerity”) to reflect the sincerity and passion of the artists towards their craft. Presently, Aletheia's focus is on dance with aspirations of soon restoring its other original artistic genres.
Aletheia is composed of two dance companies and one community-based class:
Company 'A'
Made up of professionally trained dancers who focus on modern
dance and who perform on special occasions.
Company 'B'
AKA, the Multi-Cultural Dance Team:
A group of dancers who perform diverse cultural styles of dance.
Community ‘C’
People in the general public who want to exercise weekly and learn
different styles of dance (and who may ask or be asked to perform with Company 'B')
